MSc– and BSc– projects and projects for Praktika (Drug Discovery, Organic Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry) are available in the group for highly motivated students.
PhD-positions are available starting from 01.07.2026:
1. We are looking for talented synthetic chemists, who are interested in development of
N-Alkylaminoferrocene-based prodrugs (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. , 2021, 60(20), 11158; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2018, 57, 11943) and iron(II) clathrochelates (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2023, 145(40), 22252) for treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. The work will include organic synthesis, spectroscopic (UV-vis, fluorescence), chromatographic (HPLC, TLC) and mass spectrometric (ESI and MALDI-TOF MS) investigation of the prodrugs and tests of their effects on cancer cell lines.
A potential candidate should hold an MSc-title (or equivalent, e.g. Diplom) in organic chemistry or related field. Candidates with BSc-degree can start in the MSc programm of the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy. No previous working experience with living cells is required, but would be helpfull. The corresponding training will be provided. Please, apply per Email (andriy.mokhir@fau.de) by sending your detailed CV with the full list of marks and achievements (MSc, BSc, school education) and names and contact information of 3 referees.
Applicants bringing their own fellowships (e.g., DAAD, BAYHOST) are highly encouraged and very welcome.

Soc., 2023, 145(40), 22252) for treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. The work will include elucidation of the mechanism of action of the prodrugs. A potential candidate should hold an MSc-title (or equivalent, e.g. Diplom) in biochemistry or related field. Hands-on experience in typical biochemical experiments is required: (a) work with live cells; (b) gel electrophoresis of nucleic acids and proteins (incl. Western blot); (c) qPCR etc. Please, apply per Email (andriy.mokhir@fau.de) by sending your detailed CV with the full list of marks and achievements (MSc, BSc, school education) and names and contact information of 3 referees.
